Riam Kanan Reservoir is the largest artificial lake in South Kalimantan which has an important role as an electricity generator. As a reservoir lake, it is also a habitat for various types of fish and is used by the community as a place for cultivating fish in floating net cages. The presence and abundance of various types of plankton in the cultivation environment can be a source of additional nutrition for the fish being raised. This research examines the abundance of plankton around cultivation facilities and its relationship to the condition of the waters to support fish cultivation. The method used in this research is exploratory descriptive with a purposive sampling method at 3 points in the cultivation area of Tiwingan Waduk Riam Kanan village. The results of this research show that the water fertility category from the abundance of phytoplankton and zooplankton found around fish- keeping cages in the Tiwingan Lake Riam Kanan area is in the mesotrophic category (moderate fertility) with a fairly stable community condition. The water quality values obtained are generally still within tolerable limits for plankton life in the waters
