Abstrak

This study aims to improve students' writing skills and increase mastery of sentence patterns and vocabulary in learning English and improve students' writing learning outcomes especially in class X-IPA SMA Negeri 1 Dadahup even semester of the 2021/2022 school year, which is the subject of research. These are students of class X-IPA SMA Negeri 1 Dadahup in the even semester of the 2021/2022 school year, as many as 39 people. While the research objects include: EGRU, student activities, student learning outcomes and student responses to the application of EGRU. This research was carried out in three cycles ,namely cycle I featuring short message texts with the topic "Announcements", while cycles II and III presented descriptive texts with the topic "Description of people or things". In both cycles using the EGRU-based Literacy learning model, the results of data analysis obtained the average value of the writing test in the first cycle was 65.38, the average value of the writing test in the second cycle was 70.83 and in the third cycle was 74.84 . In the first cycle there were 56.41% of students classified as active and very active, in the second cycle there were 97.44% of students classified as active and very active, while in the third cycle all students seemed active. Based on the student response questionnaire, from 39 people, 36 people agreed to use EGRU in learning English, especially writing. Therefore, it is hoped that similar teachers will use EGRU with a Literacy approach in learning English, especially writing.
